D Stiftung

The D Foundation, a non-profit organization, aims to directly or indirectly support and promote the development and dissemination of open-source software for the verifiable data economy in the real world. In particular, the D Foundation focuses on the D-Chain protocol, the surrounding community, and the broader ecosystem. D-Chain is a public, open-source Layer-1 protocol based on self-sovereign identity, enabling the use of highly conformant decentralized applications. To the extent necessary for the pursuit of the foundation's purpose, the purpose and, in particular, the definition of the specific technology are interpreted in a technologically neutral manner to be open to technical innovations, provided that the core of the foundation's purpose, supporting and promoting the development of open-source software for the verifiable data economy of the real world, is not impaired. The details of the pursuit of the purpose by the foundation can be laid down in a regulation. For this purpose, the foundation may: a) receive and distribute grants and participate in companies and other institutions in Switzerland and abroad; b) create, receive, store, and sell distributed ledger-based digital tokens and other means; c) develop, support, expand, and publish standards and software codes; d) develop, support, and expand community-driven governance systems to involve ecosystem participants in ecosystem-related matters, whether at the protocol, parameter, or foundation governance level; e) promote, manage, and orchestrate the surrounding ecosystem of the software codes supported by the foundation; f) organize educational and other events and promote awareness of the supported software codes; g) engage in dialogue with lawmakers and regulatory authorities on DLT, SSI, and related policy issues; h) collaborate with public or private institutions, facilities, individuals, and organizations; i) receive, acquire, hold, or grant intellectual property rights and license rights of all kinds; j) conclude all transactions and participate in or promote all transactions, and generally perform all acts and things necessary, appropriate, required, or desirable to achieve or promote the goals described herein. The foundation may also assign the fulfillment of its task to other organizations, create such organizations, and/or promote existing organizations. The foundation may fulfill its purpose through its own employees or outsource the fulfillment of tasks. The foundation may have a profit-making purpose and generate profits within the framework of financing for the pursuit of the purpose and the development of the ecosystem. Within the framework of the purpose, the foundation may operate in Switzerland and abroad. Possible beneficiaries related to the purpose and principles of the foundation have no rights or claims against the foundation.
