Digital Equity Association

The association has no economic purpose. The purpose of the association is to contribute to a digital society that is just, fair, democratic, open and value-based. Based on the fundamental conviction that every digital society is also subject to the rule of law, the association promotes the idea of digital self-determination of every individual as a fundamental human right. At the international level, digital societies should promote peaceful cooperation. Therefore, the association aims to make digitalization an integral part of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. It promotes digitalization, raises awareness of current and foreseeable digital opportunities and their benefits, and raises awareness of existing and expected risks surrounding the use of digital technologies, particularly the processing of personal data in the context of humanitarian and development work at home and abroad. In this context, the association pursues the following goals in particular: to contribute to reducing inequality within and between countries by promoting access to the benefits of digital technologies and digital information channels, also for disadvantaged and marginalized population groups; to help build local capacities to address the strengths and weaknesses of the specific location and the social ecosystem; to help relevant parties build capacities to maximize the inclusion of the local population in the economic system; to help countries make decisions taking into account expert efficiency, effectiveness, and economic considerations; to conduct research that facilitates the appropriate and ethically justifiable exchange and processing of information and data and promotes their broader dissemination and use by those from whom they are collected and by others in the global market economy; to develop or manage third-party tools, systems and/or platforms that serve the purpose of the association; to create digital solutions and/or support the creation of digital solutions that help countries integrate the collection, use and exploitation of data into their fiscal and regulatory planning and management; and to carry out advocacy work to support their research, information and data instruments by informing the debate without taking a position on national political decisions; to advocate for their research, information and data instruments without taking a position on national political decisions.
