The foundation's purpose is: to support cross-sectional research, applied research and clinical projects aimed at combating diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, and by extension metabolic and/or autoimmune disorders, their causes and consequences; to promote the creation and support of a research institute for the remission of metabolic and/or autoimmune diseases; in general, to engage in charitable activities in the broad field of medicine by providing financial contributions to specific projects aimed at conducting and developing research programs (fundamental, applied, clinical or other), training and education, prevention, optimization of medical resources (hospital, material, nursing staff and others), aid (such as in the event of disasters, epidemics or development aid), both in Switzerland and abroad. Within the framework of these purposes or fields of action, as the case may be, the foundation board may at its discretion define priority areas and undertake foundation-specific projects or support other public utility organizations in the relevant fields. The foundation board may further specify these fields of action and the relationship between them by means of a regulation and within the prescribed framework. This regulation must be submitted for approval to the supervisory authority. The foundation engages exclusively in public utility activities; it is non-profit and does not aim to make a profit. The foundation's assets and income serve exclusively and irrevocably to achieve the foundation's purpose.
