The Foundation's purpose is to: a) support or promote cultural, scientific and social events (excluding any religious activities), such as conferences, symposia, congresses, painting or sculpture exhibitions, musical performances, concerts, theatrical or cinematic performances, etc., of general interest, but not elitist in the sense that they are not intended for a few specialists; b) distribute one-time contributions to associations or institutions engaged in cultural, scientific and social activities (excluding any religious activities); c) award one or at most two scholarships per year to students and fellows - Swiss or resident - who attend: universities or polytechnics, higher education institutions, schools, professional or cultural institutions existing in Switzerland or abroad. In any case, the scholarships awarded must not be intended for topics of a religious nature. The beneficiaries of the scholarships must be chosen from students who have demonstrated their ability to study profitably; for the rest, the criteria in use based on cantonal legislation will be applied in the awarding of scholarships. To achieve the Foundation's purposes, both for the support and promotion of cultural, scientific and social events, and for the distribution of one-time contributions, and for the awarding of scholarships, the Foundation Council must ensure that the amounts allocated are granted according to the principle 'few but substantial', excluding therefore 'scatter' allocations. Only allocations of at least CHF 1,000 will be considered. After the death of both founders, all allocations must be made by drawing solely from the net income (profit minus expenses) of the Foundation's assets. The Foundation's activity - as regards points a) and b) - takes place within the territorial area of the Bellinzonese and is aimed at citizens residing there and associations or other legal entities and institutions that operate in this area. With regard to associations or other legal entities, those that, although operating outside Switzerland, particularly in the 'Third World', have their registered office in the Bellinzonese must also be included.
