FONDAZIONE Plan B

The Foundation pursues the purpose of managing, directly or through companies and professionals in the sector, in Switzerland and abroad, the Plan B initiatives aimed at supporting research, awareness, implementation and dissemination activities in the field of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and its applications. The Foundation will provide, with particular consideration for the activities connected with the territory of the Municipality of Lugano, without however being subject to territorial restrictions, to: 1) facilitate the understanding and correct use of digital currencies; 2) create opportunities to improve services and processes in the public and private sectors, in particular by preserving data integrity, providing better control over data by citizens, businesses and organizations, improving records and the profile of information security, access, transparency and verifiability of data; 3) support training, education (see initiatives with universities established in the Canton of Ticino, such as the Summer School at Franklin University Switzerland) and awareness programs aimed at attracting and developing a center of excellence for the benefit of the local ecosystem; 4) participate in and coordinate initiatives for research, evaluation and promotion of valid and balanced regulatory approaches related to distributed ledger technology; 5) organize, host, sponsor and promote community events to increase local community activities and attract new participants in the ecosystem; 6) coordinate cooperation between all private and public sector actors involved in the development and use of distributed ledger technology to avoid fragmentation and promote a legal and regulatory environment in which reliable and trustworthy distributed ledger-based technologies can spread beyond national borders based on open standards and interoperable solutions; 7) organize and promote inter-ecosystem collaboration and cooperation with international communities; 8) award university scholarships to deserving individuals in the technological field; 9) support research projects in the field of renewable energy. The Foundation pursues public utility goals and therefore has no profit motive. The recipients of the devolutions are non-profit entities and for the benefit of tax exemption, reserving direct donations to other subjects that fall within the scope of the social purpose (e.g. students and researchers beneficiaries of scholarships or research, in the form of reimbursable or non-repayable contributions). The Foundation carries out its activities in Switzerland and abroad.
