The foundation's purpose is to provide child and youth welfare, in particular by covering uncovered costs of medical and therapeutic measures and aids, care, surgery, therapy, integration and training costs; contributions to securing the basic care of children in need; contributions to uncovered costs of education and training and retraining of young people (up to the age of 28) after compulsory school leaving and outside of in-company training by employers. Contributions to institutions that offer employment and/or residential places to children and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds or with cognitive problems. Support for projects by clinics to improve/expand the treatment of children (such as the expansion of the Zurich Children's Hospital). Other humanitarian aid, living cost contributions to people in need and to institutions that provide corresponding support, in particular contributions to uncovered but quality-of-life-enhancing medical, therapeutic and/or integrative measures, housing and homelessness assistance. Additionally, contributions can be made to artists, especially in the performing and visual arts, music and literature, who have lost their employment or contracts or studies at least temporarily due to extraordinary events (economic development, epidemics, etc.), in order to bridge income gaps. Promotion of musical education for gifted children and young people. The foundation can support not only individual promotion but also orchestras and other youth formations that serve musical promotion. Scholarships for students of music academies can only be granted if there is a profound and sustainable connection to Switzerland and not just studying in Switzerland. Support for museums, exhibitions and cultural projects that have a cultural or historical connection to Switzerland or a region in Switzerland. Individuals in the visual and performing arts, literature, music and history with a connection to Switzerland can also be supported. Promotion of the most authentic restoration of historic paddle steamers on lakes in Switzerland, and also historic railways on historic routes in Switzerland can be supported. Support for the preservation of livelihoods, infrastructure and landscapes in mountainous regions, in line with the purposes of the foundations Patenschaft für Berggemeinden and Schweizer Berghilfe. The foundation's contributions must not replace public services (such as social assistance, supplementary benefits, IV benefits, public scholarships and subsidies), but must complement them. The foundation works in favor of beneficiaries with a profound connection to Switzerland (Swiss nationality or residence in Switzerland or professional ties in Switzerland), in the general interest and without self-interest. It does not pursue any commercial or self-help purposes, and is exclusively active in a non-profit manner for the benefit of affected persons and institutions, corporations and project sponsors. Subject to special regulations (which must be submitted to the supervisory authority), the foundation board decides on the allocation of foundation benefits within the framework of the foundation's purpose. Decisions of the foundation board do not have to be justified to applicants.
