The foundation aims to pursue public-benefit purposes in the field of child and youth welfare, particularly in developing countries, specifically in the areas of children's rights, equal rights for girls and young women, early childhood development, access to education and creation of training opportunities for girls and young women, combating gender-based violence, humanitarian aid in conflicts and disasters, economic empowerment through creating better prospects for girls and young women, and the elimination of harmful practices such as child marriage or female genital mutilation. The foundation fulfills this purpose primarily by providing grants to non-profit organizations in Switzerland and abroad that fulfill the foundation's purpose. In particular, the foundation provides grants to: Plan International, Inc. U.S.A. To achieve its public-benefit purpose, the foundation may also: - implement and support projects and provide funding and assistance to individuals and organizations that fall within the foundation's purpose; - establish further legal entities (such as associations, foundations, companies) or acquire participations in such entities or become a member of purpose-related associations; - enter into cooperations of a content-related or structural nature with other legal or natural persons. The foundation board may set priorities within these activities at its discretion. The foundation has a non-profit character, does not pursue any commercial purposes, and does not strive for profit.
