The purpose of the association is to promote the theory and practice of laboratory medicine research and its application in healthcare and the practical exercise of medicine. In particular, the association pursues the following goals, which are not exhaustive: Building, promoting and supporting high professional standards of research in laboratory medicine. Promoting international cooperation and coordination in the development of laboratory medicine investigations in the areas of research, testing procedures, materials, legal regulations and procedures, promoting education, training and further education, developing codes of ethics and related topics. Creating a basis for the association of scientists and for the free exchange of subject-related information in the field of laboratory medicine research worldwide. Providing financial and organizational support for international congresses of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, as well as supporting regional congresses and meetings of international scope and interest. Promoting, financially supporting and/or conducting studies, developing recommendations, reference measurement processes and reference materials, examining and reporting on aspects of laboratory medicine research of international interest and importance. Providing advisory services on various aspects of laboratory medicine research. The advice should be available to all members of the IFCC, other international and regional societies, states, nations, industries and individuals who provide healthcare services and provide materials for health promotion. Promoting and supporting the organization and founding of new societies dedicated to laboratory medicine research. Making other feasible and purposeful contributions to the advancement of laboratory medicine research and its service to humanity.
