The National Reining Horse Association Switzerland (abbreviated NRHA) promotes the sport of Reining. Reining is a fast, precise and controlled gallop dressage, originally derived from the work of the American ranch horse. The NRHA Switzerland is an affiliate of the US-American NRHA and adopts its instructions and regulations as far as possible and sensible, especially for sporting matters. The NRHA works closely with the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) and the SVPS (Swiss Association for Equestrian Sports), as well as with other Swiss Western riding associations. The NRHA promotes the training and further education of its members in equestrian sports, as well as in handling horses. The promotion of young talent and cadres takes a particularly high priority. The NRHA regularly hosts national and international Reining tournaments. All NRHA events (tournaments, courses, etc.) are open to all horse breeds. The NRHA strives to ensure that the concerns of animal welfare in Reining sports and horse keeping receive the necessary attention. The NRHA exclusively pursues non-profit purposes.
