The foundation's purpose is to support neuropathological research at the University of Zurich. This support includes both research and teaching through the financing of the following activities and assets: consumables, durable goods, salaries and social benefits of personnel, scholarships for diploma students, doctoral students, postdoctoral students, and habilitants, costs for animal husbandry and for conducting animal experiments, costs for the administration of the foundation and the activities supported by the foundation, congresses and congress travel expenses, research stays of the Institute of Neuropathology's personnel at external institutions, research stays of external scientists at the Institute of Neuropathology of the University of Zurich, field expenses, publication costs, costs associated with inviting external speakers, retreats of the Institute of Neuropathology, and other activities in the interest of neuropathological research at the discretion of the foundation board.
