The purpose of the foundation is, in general, to promote the tasks and endeavors of the "Augenspital in Basel" foundation in a suitable manner. The income from the foundation's assets is to be used for the direct and indirect promotion of ophthalmological scientific research at the Augenspital in Basel. Objects acquired with funds from the foundation become the property of the "Augenspital in Basel" foundation. The foundation's funds may not be used to finance the ongoing operations of the hospital, i.e. the University Eye Clinic and the Augenspital or the polyclinic.
