To practice and promote the study of natural hazards and risks in mountainous environments and the impact caused by climate change; to develop means to achieve this goal, to teach and disseminate information related to natural hazards and risks; to establish and fund a research team in this field; to provide high-level education, to disseminate open information and to promote international exchanges.
