The foundation will preserve and develop the castle complex in Köniz, maintaining its historical building substance as a cultural asset and meeting place for young and old. The buildings, gardens and outdoor facilities of Köniz Castle are to be managed sustainably and serve the local population and the public as a meeting place, cultural and recreational area. The castle complex as a whole, including the associated buildings and outdoor facilities, is to be made available for cultural, representative, museum, educational, research and socio-cultural purposes. To achieve the foundation's purpose, the foundation can establish and participate in other legal entities. It can acquire, develop and possibly resell properties. The foundation has a mixed public and non-profit purpose. The foundation's profits and capital are exclusively dedicated to the aforementioned purposes. Profit-making purposes are excluded.
